How to start a life coaching business online.

Are you an ICF-accredited life coach looking to start a business? You’ve found yourself a vocation that’s incredibly rewarding, but setting up a coaching business isn’t easy. Getting started can be overwhelming and The Mind Rebel™ Academy is here to help with tips on how to start an ICF-accredited life coaching business online. Let’s dig in and help you begin your coaching journey.

EMBRACE REMOTE COACHING

While a one-on-one, in-person experience may sound more appealing to some, the fact is that most life-coaching sessions are now taken online, and that’s probably not going to change in the future. As long as you’re remote, you can coach your clients from anywhere in the world and at any time. It’s less time-consuming for your clients since they don’t have to drive to a specific location, and more cost-effective for you, since you don’t have to invest in office space if you don’t want to.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Know your audience and get involved with social media. Take the time to develop a deeper understanding of what each platform is for. LinkedIn is for growing your professional network, for instance, while you may post engaging visual media on Instagram and put calls to action on Facebook, inviting your community to virtual events. Your content should be unique and fresh for each platform, tailored to suit whichever you’re currently using. When you can, implement short, high-quality videos to capture the attention of your audience.

SERVE YOUR AUDIENCE

We like to think about social media followers, more as a community.  When you’re first starting out, your community may be small.  But showing up for them and serving them with your whole heart, will go a long way over time.

Don’t be afraid to become part of your community, too; involve yourself in social groups in your neighbourhood that may be interested in your business, and talk to them about it. Ask your friends and family to spread the word about it or share a post on one of your social media pages. Word of mouth goes incredibly far nowadays!

TESTIMONIALS

Ask the clients you have worked with for testimonials and reviews.  Testimonials also go a long way in building trust for new potential clients. It helps them to feel confident that they’re making the right choice when they choose you to be their life coach.  You can post testimonials on your website or on social media.  This is called:  social proof.

1-ON-1 COACHING AND GROUP COACHING

Offering different kinds of coaching sessions can help your business. One-on-one coaching is good for the client who needs privacy and personal attention. However, you can also offer group coaching, which can maximize efficiency, and a group rate can cost less for each client while maximizing your profit margins during the time slot. People who know each other may choose to come in groups to experience openness in a safe environment. Alternatively, a client may choose to attend a topic-oriented group session with strangers where they are all facing a similar circumstance and can discuss it. For those with little support outside of life-coaching sessions, this can be a great way to build a community.

EXCELLENT SERVICE

It’s generally easier and less expensive to keep an existing client than to find new ones, so you should always give yours a reason to come back for more. Establish a lasting, deep connection with them through mutual understanding and genuine passion for helping them. In the case of life coaching, a lot of this relies on providing excellent service, as well as a willingness to listen.
